Evening and day dress

White tie calls for a tailcoat, cut short at the front with tails behind. Morning dress, for a wedding or a race meeting, is built around a morning coat with a cutaway front. Both depend on proportion more than any other garment, which is why they reward being cut to the figure rather than hired for the day.

Cut for the occasion

The coat is drafted from a house block adjusted to your measurements, so the tails fall straight and the front sits cleanly at the waist. It comes back for a fitting and is adjusted until the line is right, with alterations included.

Booking

Allow time before the event for the consultation, the cut and the fitting. A first appointment takes about an hour, and the £50 that holds it is credited in full to your commission.
