Made to measure
Every Carnegie Atelier garment is cut to your measurements, in a cloth chosen with you. Not a stock size that is then let out and taken in.
We work from a set of house blocks, each drafted for a particular build. One is chosen as the starting point for your figure and then adjusted: the shoulder to sit where yours does, the chest and waist to your own measurements, the length judged against how you stand rather than a table.
The result is a garment that reads as tailored rather than bought. It is a slower way to buy a suit, and the reason to do it is fit.
What is included
A canvassed construction rather than fused, so the chest keeps its shape over years of wear. Hand finishing where it earns its place: the collar, the buttonholes, the pick stitching along the edges.
The fit is not considered finished until you are happy with it. Adjustments after the first fitting are part of the commission, not an extra.
After the first commission
Your measurements and the block used are kept on file. A second suit needs only a conversation about cloth and a single fitting to confirm nothing has changed.

The fitting
About an hour at the atelier. We take your measurements, talk through where and how often the garment will be worn, and look through the cloth books together.

The cut
The pattern is drafted to your figure and the garment made up in a half or full canvas construction, with the collar, buttonholes and finishing worked by hand.
- 03
The finishing
The garment comes back for a fitting and is adjusted until the line is right. Alterations at this stage are expected, and they are included.
